Nicolae Paulescu

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases, it affects about 5% of the world’s population, but few people know that the treatment of diabetes is based on the invention of a Romanian.

In 1921, Nicolae Paulescu, professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, found that carbohydrate levels in the body are determined by insulin, a hormone secreted by the pancreas. So, the inventor gave insulin by injection to patients with diabetes, making it one of the most common treatments for this disease.
